We are working toward our goal of expanding the Bullard Kids' Park by adding an all new special needs section. The Rotary Club of Bullard has been involved with this well used and loved park from its inception to its current planned THIRD expansion!
The Bullard Kids' Park is a busy and enjoyable park that serves not only Bullard, but the surrounding areas. It includes everything that your kids, big and small, may want in a playground, and is surrounded by a fence to keep the little ones from easily running off. The Rotary Club of Bullard has been involved in the Kids park since its inception. We have both raised funds, and rolled up our sleeves and put on our work gloves, to add covers, benches, maintain the mulch, and keep the equipment nice. Our most recent addition was an exercise area adjacent to the playground equipment that will help keep you in shape, and find those muscles that you never knew you had.
Now we are planning our third expansion! Bullard Independent School District (BISD) has the fastest growing special needs program in the area. The Rotary Club of Bullard, working with the City of Bullard, felt that we needed to create a place that the whole family could spend time together, enjoying outside activities, regardless of their individual physical abilities or challenges.
We have defined the space and discussed possibilities with companies that specialize in equipment for kids with special needs. The cost for the expansion is currently estimated to be $247,000. We are working with the City of Bullard to apply for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant, that if successful, will fund up to 50% of the estimated cost. The other half will be funded by our great community and neighbors. We have two main fundraisers each year: the sporting clays shoot (typically in April) and the golf tournament (typically in October).

The Rotary Club of Bullard is always looking for more members from our local area that have a heart of caring, a mind of leadership, hands willing to serve, and want to make a positive impact in their community. There is one catch though: you have to be that early bird that gets the worm. We meet every Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Restaurant at Kiepersol and invite anyone that would like to attend and learn more about Rotary.
